Day 1 – Arrival in Jorhat

Assamese Bihu Cultural Evening

Arrive in Jorhat, the cultural heart of Assam's tea-growing region. Meet your Assam Discovery representative and transfer to your hotel.

After check-in and some time to relax, enjoy an evening Assamese Bihu cultural programme. Through traditional music, dance and local performances, experience the festive spirit and cultural traditions of Assam.

Bihu is deeply woven into Assamese life and provides a wonderful introduction to the culture you will encounter during your journey through Majuli.

Day 2 – Jorhat → Majuli

Ferry Across the Brahmaputra & Sunset by the River

After breakfast, proceed to the ferry terminal for your journey across the mighty Brahmaputra River to Majuli.

The ferry crossing itself is an integral part of the Majuli experience. As the boat moves across the broad river, enjoy changing views of sandbanks, river channels and the surrounding landscapes.

On arrival in Majuli, transfer to your accommodation and settle into the relaxed rhythm of island life.

Later, head towards the Brahmaputra riverbank to enjoy the serene surroundings and watch the sun set over the river. The wide horizon, changing colours and gentle river landscape create one of Majuli's most memorable experiences.

In the evening, experience local hospitality and, where available and appropriate, taste traditional rice beer as part of the local cultural experience.

Day 3 – Majuli

Satras, Sattriya Dance & Traditional Mask-Making

After breakfast, begin a cultural exploration of Majuli's renowned Satras — Vaishnavite monasteries that have played a central role in preserving Assam's religious, artistic and cultural traditions.

Auniati Satra

Founded in the 17th century, Auniati Satra is one of Majuli's prominent Satras and is known for preserving Vaishnavite traditions, devotional practices, music and cultural heritage.

Kamalabari Satra

Kamalabari Satra is an important centre of Assamese Neo-Vaishnavite culture, particularly associated with the preservation and teaching of Sattriya dance, music and performing arts.

Where available and subject to local schedules, enjoy a presentation or performance of Sattriya dance, the classical dance tradition that evolved within Assam's Satra institutions.

Samaguri Satra

Samaguri Satra is renowned for its traditional mask-making tradition, where artisans create colourful masks used in Bhaona and other performances depicting stories from Assamese Vaishnavite traditions.

Witness the fascinating process of mask-making and learn how these handcrafted masks are used to bring mythological characters and stories to life.

Day 4 – Majuli

Mishing Village & Traditional Pottery

Today, discover the everyday life and traditional crafts of Majuli.

Visit a Mishing village and experience the distinctive lifestyle, architecture and traditions of the Mishing community. Depending on local arrangements, interact with villagers and learn about traditional houses, weaving, food and rural life.

Continue to experience the island's traditional pottery-making practices. Observe local artisans shaping clay using traditional techniques and learn how pottery remains connected to everyday life and cultural heritage in Majuli.

The day offers an opportunity to move beyond sightseeing and experience living Assamese culture at the community level.

Later, return to your accommodation and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Majuli.

Day 5 – Majuli → Jorhat

Early Morning Ferry & Onward Journey

After an early breakfast, proceed to the ferry terminal for your return journey across the Brahmaputra River to Jorhat.

Enjoy the early-morning river landscape as Majuli gradually disappears behind you. On arrival in Jorhat, transfer for your onward journey or to Jorhat Airport for your flight.
