Day 1: Guwahati – Bhalukpong

Overnight: Bhalukpong

Your Grand Arunachal Discovery begins from Guwahati.

Travel through Assam's plains towards Bhalukpong, the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh.

As you approach the foothills, the landscape gradually changes from the flat Brahmaputra valley to forested Himalayan foothills.

After entering Arunachal Pradesh, continue to Bhalukpong and relax after the journey.

Depending on arrival time, there may be an opportunity for a short nature experience around the foothills.

Experience Focus: Assam–Arunachal transition and Himalayan foothills.

Day 2: Bhalukpong – Dirang

Overnight: Dirang

Continue into the mountains towards Dirang, travelling through forested valleys and spectacular Himalayan scenery.

The journey itself is an important part of the experience as the road climbs steadily through changing vegetation and landscapes.

Depending on time, explore selected attractions around Dirang, such as the local market, villages or viewpoints.

Spend the evening relaxing in the mountain environment.

Day 3: Dirang – Sela Pass – Tawang

Overnight: Tawang

Today you enter the high Himalayas.

Travel towards Sela Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain crossings on the route to Tawang. The pass and surrounding landscape are characterised by dramatic mountains, high-altitude lakes and changing weather conditions.

Continue towards Tawang through the mountain valleys.

On arrival, check into your accommodation and keep the evening relaxed to allow time for acclimatisation.

Experience Focus: Sela Pass, high-altitude landscapes and Himalayan road journey.

Day 4: Discover Tawang

Overnight: Tawang

Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural and historical heart of Western Arunachal.

Visit the magnificent Tawang Monastery, an important centre of Mahayana Buddhist heritage and one of the defining landmarks of the region.

Continue with selected attractions such as:

• Tawang War Memorial

• Urgelling Monastery

• Local monasteries

• Tawang market

• Himalayan viewpoints

Spend time learning about Monpa culture, Buddhism and the history of the region.

Day 5: Bum La & High-Altitude Lakes – Tawang

Overnight: Tawang

Today is reserved for one of the most memorable experiences of the Western Arunachal journey.

Travel towards Bum La Pass, a high-altitude border area near the India–China frontier.

The visit requires additional permission and is strictly subject to weather, road conditions and local administrative/security restrictions.

Where accessible, continue towards selected high-altitude lakes, including Sangestar Lake/Madhuri Lake.

Return to Tawang by evening.

If Bum La is inaccessible, the day can be adapted to include alternative attractions around Tawang.

Day 6: Tawang – Bomdila / Dirang

Overnight: Bomdila or Dirang

Begin the long journey back towards the lower valleys.

Travel through the dramatic mountain landscape towards Bomdila or Dirang, depending on road conditions and the final itinerary.

The journey offers opportunities for photography and short breaks at suitable viewpoints.

The lower altitude also provides a gradual transition before continuing towards Central Arunachal.

Day 7: Bomdila / Dirang – Ziro Valley

Overnight: Ziro

Continue towards Ziro Valley, one of Arunachal Pradesh's most distinctive cultural landscapes.

The scenery changes as you move away from the high mountains towards forested hills and agricultural valleys.

After arrival, explore the surroundings or visit a nearby Apatani village if time permits.

Experience Focus: Transition from Western to Central/Eastern Arunachal.

Day 8: Ziro – Apatani Culture & Villages

Overnight: Ziro

Today is dedicated to the Apatani cultural landscape.

Visit selected villages such as Hong, Hari, Bulla and Hari-Bulla, subject to local accessibility and community considerations.

Explore traditional homes, village pathways and agricultural fields.

Learn about the Apatani's distinctive wet-rice cultivation and fish-farming practices, traditional knowledge and changing village life.

Day 9: Ziro – Daporijo – Aalo

Today begins a more offbeat section of the journey.

Travel through the landscapes of Upper Subansiri towards Daporijo before continuing to Aalo.

This is a long but fascinating road journey through forests, hills, rivers and remote settlements.

Aalo is an important cultural centre associated with the Galo community.

Depending on arrival time, explore the local surroundings.

Day 10: Aalo – Galo Cultural Experience

Overnight: Aalo

Spend the day discovering the cultural landscape around Aalo.

As you approach Mechuka, the valley opens into a dramatic landscape of mountains, rivers, forests and traditional settlements.

Day 12: Explore Mechuka Valley

Overnight: Mechuka

Today is dedicated to exploring Mechuka and its surrounding villages.

Day 13: Mechuka – Pasighat

Leave Mechuka and begin the journey towards Pasighat.

Travel through the mountain valleys and forests towards the Siang region.

Pasighat provides a completely different landscape from Mechuka and Tawang, with its connection to the great Siang River system and the cultural landscape of the Adi people.

Depending on arrival time, explore the town and surrounding areas.

Day 14: Pasighat – Dibrugarh

Tour Ends: Dibrugarh

After breakfast, continue towards Assam.

Cross the Brahmaputra region and travel towards Dibrugarh, the gateway to Assam's tea country.

Depending on your onward travel arrangements, the tour concludes at Dibrugarh Airport or railway station.
