The Story of Tea & Tee in Assam.
🍃⛳ Where Tea and Golf Found Each Other
There is a beautiful story hidden in Assam's tea country.
More than a century ago, tea gardens began spreading across the lush landscapes of Upper Assam. Life here was very different from the cities the early tea planters had known. Their days revolved around the gardens, the tea factories and the vast green landscape surrounding their bungalows.
In time, they brought with them another passion—golf.
What makes Assam special is that the game did not remain separate from the plantations. Small golf courses began appearing within the world of tea, often surrounded by towering trees, rolling greens and endless rows of tea bushes. The historic Jorhat Gymkhana Club, established in 1876, became one of the early landmarks of this remarkable tea-and-golf culture.
And that connection has survived.
Today, you can stand on a golf course with a tea garden stretching beyond the fairway, hear the quiet rhythm of the plantation and later sit down to taste a cup of Assam Tea grown in the very landscape around you.
Here, tea is not simply something you drink, and golf is not simply a game you play. Together, they are a way of experiencing Assam's plantation heritage.
Come for the tea. Play a round of golf. Stay for the story.
