Day 1: Guwahati – Itanagar

Distance: Approximately 330 km
Overnight: Itanagar

Your Arunachal Pradesh journey begins from Guwahati.

Travel through the landscapes of Assam towards the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh and continue to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

Depending on your arrival time, explore selected local attractions or simply relax before continuing towards Ziro the following morning.

Experience Focus: Assam–Arunachal transition, foothill landscapes and the gateway to the Eastern Himalayas.

Day 2: Itanagar – Ziro Valley

Distance: Approximately 110 km
Overnight: Ziro

After breakfast, drive towards the beautiful Ziro Valley.

As the road climbs towards the valley, the landscape gradually changes into forested hills, agricultural fields and traditional settlements.

After arrival and check-in, begin a gentle introduction to Ziro. Depending on arrival time, visit a nearby Apatani village and observe the distinctive traditional houses, rice fields and village surroundings.

Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the valley.

Day 3: Apatani Villages – Culture & Traditional Agriculture

Overnight: Ziro

Today is dedicated to understanding the Apatani way of life.

Visit selected Apatani villages and walk through traditional settlements, observing houses, community spaces and agricultural fields.

The Apatani cultural landscape is particularly fascinating because of its highly developed wet-rice cultivation system combined with fish farming. The agricultural system has been recognised internationally for its traditional ecological knowledge and sustainable characteristics.

Depending on local conditions and community availability, there may be opportunities to meet local residents, learn about traditional practices and experience aspects of everyday village life.

Explore local markets and sample traditional food where appropriate.

The afternoon can be kept flexible for photography, village walks or relaxation.

Day 4: Ziro – Nature, Talley Valley & Photography

Overnight: Ziro

Today introduces the natural side of the Ziro Valley.

Depending on weather, road conditions and local accessibility, travel towards Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary or another suitable surrounding nature area.

The landscape changes from cultivated valley floors to dense forests and mountain scenery.

Nature enthusiasts can look for birds and other wildlife, while photographers can explore the changing light across the valley, agricultural fields, forests and traditional settlements.

The exact nature excursion can be adjusted according to the season, weather and interests of the travellers.

Return to Ziro in the afternoon or evening.

Nature Focus: Forests, mountain landscapes, birding and nature photography.

Day 5: Ziro – Itanagar – Guwahati

Your Ziro Valley journey comes to an end as you travel back towards Itanagar and onward to Guwahati.

Depending on your onward travel plans, we can arrange drop-off at Guwahati Airport, railway station or your preferred location.

For travellers continuing deeper into Northeast India, the journey can also be extended to include Assam, Meghalaya or other Arunachal Pradesh destinations.
